DKT Indonesia – Phil Harvey Impact Funds Implementation
By DKT Indonesia
DKT Indonesia has identified two key projects that align with the memory of Phil Harvey and the Phil Harvey Impact initiative, which both align with his vision of supporting vulnerable communities and making a meaningful, efficient impact in sexual and reproductive health.
A partnership for a maternal & neonatal clinic in Bali with the Metta Mama Maggha Foundation
The Metta Mama Maggha Foundation, founded by Maggha, the daughter of Ms. Vivi Monata Sandra Tendean at the age of 14, is dedicated to supporting marginalized women and children in Bali and across Indonesia. In addition to running an orphanage currently caring for 62 children, the foundation also operates ‘Rumah Aman,’ a safe house for women with unplanned pregnancies who have been exiled by their families and communities. These women receive refuge, medical care, and emotional support within the foundation’s safe environment. This facility serves women from all over Indonesia.
In collaboration with the Metta Mama Maggha Foundation, DKT Indonesia will establish a maternal and neonatal clinic in a marginalized community area of Bali. This clinic will offer critical healthcare services such as antenatal care, normal delivery, neonatal care, contraception and family planning, STI & HIV testing, immunizations, and more. The clinic aims to support marginalized women facing unplanned pregnancies, while also serving the local community with family planning services. This initiative is essential in reducing maternal and neonatal mortality and addressing the healthcare needs of underserved populations in Bali.
Support for HIV-positive children in Jakarta
DKT Indonesia is also extending the Phil Harvey Impact Funds to support the Yayasan Vina Smart Era Foundation, run by Midwife Ropina Tarigan in Jakarta. The foundation provides shelter and care for over 10 HIV-positive children who have been abandoned by their families and communities. Located in a marginalized community, the foundation operates from Bidan Ropina’s four-story building, with the first floor serving as a midwife clinic and the upper floors as living quarters for the children.
DKT Indonesia will fully cover the foundation’s expenses for one year, including daily needs such as meals, educational costs, and building renovations to ensure the children live comfortably and safely.
Both the Metta Mama Maggha Foundation and Yayasan Vina Smart Era are led by women who have dedicated their lives to supporting vulnerable populations. Both initiatives reflect Phil’s passion for helping the marginalized and will be implemented quickly and without bureaucracy.
