DKT International continues to uphold the ten principles of the UN Global Compact with respect to human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption. With this report on our commitment progress, we express our support for the Global Compact advancing these principles, and to advance the aims of the global sustainable development goals for human rights and sexual health.
DKT hereby reconfirms our commitment to participating in and engaging with the UN Global Compact. DKT will continue promoting organizational transparency, supporting issue platforms related to sexual and reproductive health, and providing support for UN Global Compact participants in their efforts to implement and report on sustainability efforts.
Human Rights
DKT provides high quality, rigorously tested, affordable family planning products to expand access to sexual and reproductive health and rights. DKT now sells contraception, HIV/AIDS prevention products, and safe abortion technology in over 50 low- and middle-income countries.
DKT also promotes the right to accessible sexual and reproductive health care by training providers to advance their counseling and service provision capacity, conducting youth outreach, and distributing informational resources to improve free and open access to information about family planning as a human right.
Labor
DKT’s field offices circulate monthly field reports to senior leadership to report on hiring, updates on employee’s needs and status, and any performance-related issues. This reporting ensures transparency and accountability for hiring authorities across DKT International, and adherence to labor laws across our many country programs. DKT is committed to following the highest standards for labor rights to prioritize the rights and safety of DKT employees.
Environment
DKT recognizes the importance of environmental protection both as an organization and as it relates to family planning. DKT is committed to operating in an environmentally responsible manner in compliance with local laws and regulations.
DKT is committed to developing and implementing environmentally-sustainable practices around the world. These policies include assessing the impact of our equipment and operations, communicating with suppliers and relevant sub-contractors to ensure they act in environmentally-responsible manners, promoting environmentally-conscious policies among employees, and minimizing waste. DKT also ensures that we follow environmental regulations and laws in countries where we operate.
Within the organization, DKT employees follow best practices to carry out our Environmental Sustainability Management Plan. To reduce the environmental impact of our global reach, DKT encourages employees to conduct virtual meetings (reducing emissions that would be released by planes and other means of global transportation), use public transit, and recycle and compost.
Anti-Corruption
DKT International is committed to the highest standards of ethical, moral, and legal business conduct, and upholds a zero-tolerance principle for acts of dishonesty, abuses of power and abuses of position. These practices include but are not limited to deception, bribery, forgery, extortion, theft, conspiracy, embezzlement, misappropriation, false representation, concealment, and collusion.
