DKT pledges to use our financial resources responsibly to achieve the greatest, most cost-effective impact possible and to share our results transparently. We carefully maintain financial records, make them available to anyone who wishes to view them, and undergo annual audits. These efforts have been recognized by industry watchdogs.
Four-Star Charity Rating for Finances
Charity Navigator, America’s leading independent evaluator of nonprofits, has named DKT a four-star charity for its financial management, its highest rating possible, for exceeding industry standards. This rating sets us apart from our peers and demonstrates our trustworthiness to the public.
Cost-Effective
All of our country programs bring in sales revenue to support their own operations and some programs are now 100% financially sustainable. Our programs in Brazil, Indonesia and the Philippines have used their sales revenue to start up new DKT programs in emerging markets.
Our low overhead sets us apart from other organizations – approximately 2% of our budget goes toward headquarters expenses, and only about a tenth of that is spent on fundraising.
Transparent
We track, document, and share our programmatic and financial results using clearly stated metrics. DKT publishes an annual report that summarizes both our programmatic results and financial statements every year. This report, along with independently audited financial statements and federal tax filings, is available on our website.
Every year, we publish our sales results by country and compile statistics for all contraceptive social marketing programs in the world. We use the MSI Impact 2 calculator to estimate the health impact of our sales and services each year; this information is available here. DKT’s commitment to sharing results freely has earned us a Gold Seal of Transparency from GuideStar.
